Yucca baccata

Banana Yucca, Dactil Yucca

OVERVIEW:

Yucca baccata, also known as Banana Yucca, is a drought-tolerant, evergreen shrub that is native to the Southern United States and Northern Mexico.  This plant derives its name from the banana shaped fruit that forms after its ivory-colored blooms are pollinated.  Whether used as a shrub or a small tree, it is a perfect addition to xerophytic landscapes.  This yucca’s flowers attract insects such as butterflies and moths to its flowers and birds and small mammals to its fruit.
