Olea ‘Wilsonii’
Fruitless Olive
OVERVIEW:
Olea europaea ‘Wilsonii’, commonly known as the ‘Fruitless Olive’, is a drought tolerant European native variety great for landscape design requiring little to no droppings or maintenance. This evergreen grows to heights of 20 feet tall and wide and produces little if any mature fruit. Branches form a dense upright growth habit with a rounded crown. Foliage showcases linear gray-green leaves growing sparsely along its stems with small inconspicuous flowers blooming in spring. For best results, plant in full sun using well-draining rich soil. Water regularly to establish a root system and once established only low infrequent watering is necessary. Propagate by taking semi-ripe cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in winter.
