OVERVIEW:
Melampodium leucanthum can be found primarily in the southwestern states of the US, with just a few species originating further South in Colombia and Brazil. This outstanding perennial is drought tolerant, low maintenance, deer-resistant, nearly disease and pest-free, making is a uniquely versatile plant. There are not many daisies that can withstand Arizona’s extreme heat, but as long as kept in partial shade or under the protection of nursing plants, Melampodium with thrive. This variety boasts long, narrow grayish-green leaves with small, yellow centered white daisies. It grows in low, bushy clusters and self-sows, helping maintain its seasonal presence in the garden or landscape.
