Fraxinus velutina ‘Fan-Tex’

Fan-Tex Ash

OVERVIEW:

The Fan-Tex Ash, Fraxinus velutina ‘Fan-Tex’, is a hybrid of the Arizona ash and it shares many of the same attributes with its parent tree.  The Fan-Tex ash has light-green leaflets; however, these are more elliptical and are much smoother than those of the Arizona ash.  The bark of the Fan-Tex ash is also light grey, becoming darker and furrowed with age.  Compared to the Arizona ash the Fan-Tex is a more compact tree, reaching heights of 30 feet with a spread of 25 feet.  This deciduous tree also has a more rounded/broad shape to its canopy; These features make this variety perfect for smaller settings, such a back yard.
