Ficus microcarpa
Indian Laurel, Indian Fig, Ficus Nitida
OVERVIEW:
Ficus microcarpa (Indian Laurel, Ficus Nitida) belongs to genus Ficus. The features of this genus include a dense canopy, aerial roots, a single trunk, and distinctive column shape. Fruits are commonly known as edible figs, flowers bloom in late spring and utilize the wasp species for pollination. It is one of the most common plants for landscape and found all over the world. Use this evergreen to create a full privacy hedge, block a view, create a border, or even reduce noise. Be careful when planting near a wall or pavement, as they can possibly cause damage if allowed to grow large over time. Although Ficus Nitida can grow over 30 feet tall, they are often kept much shorter, about 10- 15 feet tall. Plant in full to partial sun with average to low watering once established.
