Buxus japonica (japanese boxwood)

Abstract:

Buxus japonica is an evergreen shrub commonly used in formal, manicured landscaping.  Makes a great small hedge or foundation shrub.  This plant stays compact, growing only 2-4 feet tall, and is great for accenting decks, patios, and entryways.  Must be planted in the shade or partial shade in the Sonoran desert.  Boxwood can be trimmed and formed into many different shapes (go ahead Edward Scissorhands), making it a sought-after variety by homeowners interested in adding a level of artistry to their landscape.
