‘Murphy’s Agave’
OVERVIEW:
Agave murpheyi a gray-blue specimen characterized by its smooth exterior. Native to central Arizona and northern Mexico, this native variety was one of the exclusive varieties found across Hohokam archeological sites, used generously for its fibrous roots allowing for weaving, construction and consumption. It tolerates full sun and can exist in elevations ranging from 1,000 - 3,000ft with infrequent watering, and is able to produce copious pups once matured. Monocarpic, the blooming season for this variety will determine the end of its life cycle, going out with an array of delicate yellow and green flowers on a thick, branched stalk.
